EGR Position Sensor

The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) position sensor monitors the position of the EGR valve and transmits the signal to the engine control computer.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing EGR Position Sensor

  • Check Engine Light may illuminate
  • Erratic idle or lack of power
  • Emissions failure
  • The EGR valve position sensor is commonly part of the EGR valve. As a result, is failure may require replacement of the EGR valve.
  • Whenever the EGR valve is replaced, the EGR system passages should be checked to confirm that they are clear
