Problem overview

Some Dodge Spirit owners report experiencing rough running and stalling issues after replacing the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. These problems often stem from improper diagnosis, as symptoms of a bad IAC valve can include engine stalling, rough idling, and difficulty starting. Additionally, electrical issues such as wiring problems, corrosion in connectors, or faults in the IACV's control circuit can lead to malfunctions. When functioning correctly, the IAC valve manages idle RPM smoothly, but failure can result in various idling issues. Some owners have found that unplugging the IAC valve, although possible, is not advisable, as it may cause fluctuating idle speed, rough idling, and engine stalling, along with triggering the check engine light. Furthermore, adjusting the idle speed manually might be necessary if cold start idle differs from the warm idle. If problems persist after the IAC valve replacement, further troubleshooting for faulty wiring or damaged connectors may be required to resolve the underlying issues.
