I relaced the battery, but car just goes click, click when I turned it over. Is there a reset procedure I need to preform?

Hey, my name is Dusty and I'm one of the auto experts with RepairPal's Car Genius team here to help! That's a frustrating thing to deal with, but we're here to help. Per Buick's documentation the only thing that may need reset would be the window and sunroof motors, and if it has electric steering will need to be initialized. Beyond that in these situations, I always recommend going through each step you took to replace the battery (without lugging it out if possible lol) and just verify things are snugged if they need it, connected where they're supposed to be and everything is in order. If there is any corrosion on the terminals (often a blue-green, or even white powder), you can use a mixture of baking soda and water to neutralize the affected areas, and an old toothbrush to clean them off, rinse them off with water and allow to dry before reconnecting. Then I'd check the polarity of the battery connections, positive to positive and negative to negative, seems silly for sure, but accidents happen. If the polarity was reversed, there could be fuses that blew to protect the electrical system, in which case a professional diagnosis may be in order. If the polarity is okay make sure there's nothing between the terminal and the cables like plastic caps or insulators left during shipment and handling, there should be metal-to-metal contact. Check to make sure the cables are fully seated properly, and be careful not to overtighten them, which could damage the terminal ends or the battery terminals. If the issue persists, a diagnosis may be necessary. If you have any other questions or would like help with finding a RepairPal Certified shop in your area, give us a call! 877-913-1554
