Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Intrepid. If the engine is overheating but the temperature gauge reads cold, it could mean the coolant temperature sensor or its wiring is malfunctioning. This sensor communicates with the gauge, so if it's faulty, the gauge won't display the actual engine temperature. Another possibility is a stuck thermostat, which could cause overheating if it doesn't allow coolant to flow correctly. It's also worth checking for air pockets in the cooling system, as they can disrupt cooling and temperature readings.
