Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. I'm not sure what question you are asking. If you are asking what the life expectancy of a catalytic converter is, I would answer: indefinite. Ideally it lasts the life of the vehicle. There are situations that could result in premature failure, usually due to engine performance issues that lead to excessive amounts of fuel entering the exhaust system as it is not utilized by the engine...causing the converter to get excessively hot, ultimately damaging the internal components. When you say "muffler noise" do you mean there is noise in the exhaust system emanating from an unknown source? This could be internal, and caused by baffles inside the catalytic converter or muffler being loose and damaged, but could also be caused by rattling heat shields outside the exhaust. A good physical inspection is needed to determine what is going on. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
