What is your question?
I HAVE A 2005 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER AWD 4.0L - I REPLACED THE ENGINE WITH A REMAN AFTER THE OE ENGINE WENT 234K BEFORE THE REAR TIMING CHAIN WENT. I WAITED 2 YEARS FOR A BACK ORDERED ENGINE. I HAVE PUT 4 DIFFERENT INTAKE PLENTUMS ON THIS VEHICLE. ALL 4 MAKE A LOUD EXHAUST LIKE LEAK NOISE UNDER LOAD. I HAVE TRIED 3 DIFFERENT MFG'S AS FORD NO LONGER MAKES THIS OE PART. THE 1ST ONE LASTED A WEEK AND IT SOUNDED LIKE A ROD WAS GOING OUT. THE SECOND ONE LASTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS, AND THE 3RD & 4TH LASTED 3 WEEKS. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT 4 OF THESE ARE DEFECTIVE. MY ONLY OPTION LEFT IS TO FIND ONE FROM A WRECKING YARD, AND SEE IF A OE PART WILL FIX THE ISSUE.
What makes this problem better or worse?
LOUD NOISE FROM INTAKE PLENTUM GETS WORSE UNDER A LOAD
How long has your 2005 Mercury Mountaineer had this problem?
SINCE THE REMAN ENGINE WAS INSTALLED 2 MONTHS AGO

Hi, obviously goes without saying you'll want to obtain the correct 4.0L SOHC part not the 4.0L OHV parts. The Mountaineer, I believe, never got the OHV, but as parts are often marketed across to the Explorer in this line up, better to be certain. Yes, used parts are never a bad idea to check out - and if this does not resolve t he concern, make sure to verify the exact information oof the donor vehicle four your engine in case it differs in some way from what is in the parts catalog for the year and model you've described.
