How much is a new alternator for a 1996 Nissan Finder? Where can I repair?

Car died. Was able to get a jump from AAA. The mechanic said it’s the alternator.Before it wouldn’t start the Interior lights were fading, etc. The car felt like it was hesitating while driving it. The brakes were squeaking . When having oil put in last time, it was leaking a tiny bit.
