Does the ac compressor maybe have some kinda relay switch like a thrown breaker

What is your question?

And if so where is it? I find it hard to believe its something major like a bad compressor,when just the night before it could freeze you out. Not only is it full of Freon but I can hear and feel the compressor kick on when I turn it on. I just know its gotta be something simple like a thrown breaker somewhere. Im open to opinions here in Kilgore Texas. HELP ME
