What is your question?
The vehicle is a 2009 Nissan Versa with a CVT Transmission and 104,500 miles. I started the engine and the rpms will increase from 600 to 4000 plus. When I place the transmission in drive, and try to increase the rpms, the engine rpms will surge from 1200 rpms to 2200 rpms. The same happens in reverse. I then place the transmission back in park, and the engine surge is still there and ranges from the 1200 to 2200 rpms. I then turned off the engine, restarted, and the rpms will again increase from 600 to 4000 plus. Again, when placed in drive, the surge happens again, and when placed in park the surge continues. At one point I received a check engine light and when connecting an OBD-2 unit I received a code of P1778, which when I looked up the code, it referenced the stepper motor in the transmission. Can the stepper motor be the cause for the surge in rpms?
