My key want turn my switch but the steering wheel is not locked

My brother in law was trying to give me a jump and he touched the wrong cable, do you think that may have caused it to do that.? This is the 1st time ever doing this and I have had the car over a year and better.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Don't know it's been parked for 5months but it was starting when I parked it
