My subaru keeps saying that I’m having a tcm malfunction, and I was just wondering if there’s a way I can see if it is the tcm for sure that’s going bad.
What makes this problem better or worse?
When I let the engine cool down it doesn’t get stuck in 1st gear anymore

I have to tell you that it is very likely that your concern is related to an internal transmission failure more than a computer failure. The processors do not usually fail. The internal component of the transmission usually do - mechanically or electrically.
