Brakes
Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of Park without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
The affected vehicles are being recalled because the brake light switch can fail prematurely, resulting in the loss of brake light operation. Other systems that may be affected include: cruise control, push-button start, gear shifter, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system. Dealers will replace the brake light switch to correct this concern.
Hyundai will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles during June 2013. If you are experiencing problems with the brake lights, cruise control, shifter, push button start, or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system system, or if you don't receive recall notification after the notification date, please contact your Hyundai dealer. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Hyundai recall number is 110.
