Body, Interior & Misc.
If the brake lamps flash when the vehicle is not slowing, a following driver may not adjust vehicle speed when the vehicle is in fact braking, and the brake lamps are illuminating as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.
Certain vehicles are being recalled because of concerns with the brake lights and cruise control operation. The brake lights can come on when the brakes are not applied and/or the cruise control may disengage. These functions are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). Your GM dealer will reprogram the BCM to correct this concern.
General Motors will begin notifying owners of the affected vehicles on June 7, 2013. If your brake lights and/or cruise control are working erratically, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The General Motors recall number is 13158.
