If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
The occupant classification system may not appropriately detect an occupant in the passenger front seat, and as a result may not power the passenger frontal air bag for deployment in an accident. Dealers will reprogram the air bag control unit and occupant classification system electronic control unit in some vehicles, replacing the occupant classification system electronic control unit additionally in other vehicles free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your Nissan, Infiniti or Chevrolet must be performed by a Nissan, Infiniti or Chevrolet dealership, respectively. Nissan, Infiniti and General Motors will notify known owners of affected vehicles (a timetable of this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Nissan, Infiniti or General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
