The sensor cluster unit (SCU), if previously replaced during a service visit, may not be able to accurately determine if activation of safety restraint components is necessary in an accident. This could prevent deployment of air bags and other restraint system devices in an accident. Dealers will replace the SCU free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in December, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
